How can users log in to Arbor for the first time?

Welcome Email

Arbor has the function to send a welcome email whilst creating new staff members. 

The welcome email can only be sent whilst a staff profile is being created. To create a staff profile click on Institution > All Staff > Add New Staff Profiles.

Whilst adding all the information, for this email to be sent, it is important that the staff member has;

1. An email address

2. Send Welcome Email option ticked.

3. A business role

Once the Create Staff Member button is clicked a welcome email will be sent with details on how to log in.

 

Logging in for the first time

To log in, the staff member should click the link to your school's Arbor URL in their Welcome Email. Advise staff to select the green 'First time logging in?' link beneath 'enter your password'.

This will lead to a page where staff enter their email address and generate a new password.

This generates an email to the address they typed in. From this email, staff follow the link to set up their new password.

Once a member of staff has logged in they may find certain areas of Arbor are not visible to them. How much or how little of Arbor staff members can view and or work on is controlled by the permissions attached to the business roles assigned to them on their Staff Profile. 

 

Troubleshooting

There may be a number of reasons a user cannot log in to your school's Arbor site. 

General:

If a staff member is having trouble logging in: 

  • Check they have a business role set on Arbor with relevant permissions.
  • Get them to confirm the email address linked to their account then reset their password. Remind them to include at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter and one lower case letter, and a number.
  • Reset their business role - simply delete and re-add the role (this role only concerns your access to Arbor and does not affect any other details e.g. contract).

If a parent is having trouble logging in: 

  • Get them to confirm the email address linked to their account then reset their password. Remind them to include at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter and one lower case letter, and a number.
  • Check that the email address has not been used twice - eg, another guardian or the child's profile.
