Setting up EYFS assessments (old framework)

If your school is not participating in the EYFS reforms early adopter year, you can set up and use the old framework of EYFS assessments in Arbor. This includes both summative and curriculum assessments for the Development Matters and Early Years Foundation Stage assessments, so you'll be able to use whichever you need to suit the needs of your school.

If you’re not an early adopter school, you should continue to use the existing EYFS framework until the full rollout in September 2021.

  • If you used Arbor for assessments last year just copy them over to this year
  • If you’re new to Arbor you can set them up for the first time using the instructions below.

It is possible to link your assessments in Arbor so the curriculum grades suggest a summative assessment mark. You'll just have needed to set up the summative assessment first, and select this assessment in step 4 when setting up your curriculum assessment.

Setting up the summative assessments

First, you'll need to add the summative assessments to your Assessment Framework from Students > Assessment > Assessment > Assessment Framework > Assessment Catalogue. Click to Create new assessment.

Select the summative assessment type and change the drop-down menu to 'Foundation Stage'.

Tick the boxes next to all the assessments you would like to set up, then click the blue pencil icon to select Bulk add assessments

Link it to your early years students. We recommend linking it to the course so your teachers can input the marks.

You'll then be able to see your assessments in your Assessment catalogue and Policy, and input marks from Students > Assessments > Formative Tracking.
