On Thursday 4th March, we expanded our list of Covid-related attendance codes you should use when taking attendance, in line with DfE guidance. Please download our one-pager by clicking the link at the bottom of the article to print it out for quick reference.
The Y code - Asymptomatic testing programme
In line with page 34 of the Schools coronavirus (COVID-19) operational guidance, Secondary schools should use the Y code for secondary pupils not expected to be attending school for lessons during the week beginning 8th March due to testing. You can record this for students using a Planned Absence.
The C code - Authorised non-attendance
We expect schools to no longer need to use the C code for Covid-related absence from 8th March, as attendance is compulsory for students apart from those extremely clinically vulnerable who would be shielding. Please discuss with the DfE if you are unsure.
