From 1 October 2021 and until 31 March 2022, the UK government has introduced a temporarily reduced VAT of 12.5%. You can see details of this on their website here. You can use the new VAT amount of 12.5% for staff meals if needed by following the instructions below.
Go to School > Meals > Setup. Click into the Prices section.
Click into the meal provision you need to change the VAT for.
Click +Add to add the same price but with the new VAT rate.
Make sure you select the right start and end dates, then click Set Price & Add Another.
Add in the same meal again, this time selecting the dates when the VAT changes then click Set Price & Add Another.
Add in the same meal again, this time selecting the dates when the VAT changes again, then click Set Price.
You should now have four staff prices. Finally, you will need to set the initial staff price as inactive.
Click on the old price, and mark it as inactive.
Then click on the old price and delete it.
You should then have your three price categories, with different VAT rates.
