This guide walks you through the second step to creating a Rotating Meal Menu, adding provisions to your weekly menus to build them out from blank to complete.

This guide is the third in a series of six. The guides in this series are:

Adding Provisions to Menus

Now that you have given your menu a name and specified how often it repeats, it's time to start adding meal options to your menus so students and parents have options to choose from.

A meal-week in Arbor runs from Monday to Sunday. Set the meal options for the Monday of Week A to match the first week your menu will be available. If your menu starts on a different day, set the Monday options as if it were a regular Monday, so that when your cycle repeats, Monday A's options are correct.

Building your menu

To add provisions to a meal menu:

  • Go to School > Meals > [on the left-hand side] Setup
  • Click on Meal Menus in the table under the heading of the meal you want to add a menu for
  • Find the name of the menu you want to build out
  • Click on View meal menuĀ
  • The Meal Menu Rotation Setup page will open, and you will see:
    • A tab for each week you can set a menu up for - the number of tabs equals the number of weeks you set when setting up the blank menu in the Rotate Every box.
    • If you chose to rotate every 1 week when setting up the menu, you do not see any tabs
    • You will see days of the week listed in the table, with column headings for the provisions and custom labels for those provisions that show on the Portal and on meal registers. If you do not see these column headings, try resetting your table settings by:
      • Clicking the Gear icon above the table (slightly to the right)
      • Selecting Reset table settings

  • Click the grey +Add button to add new rows to the table - each row allows you to add new meal options.
    • Each meal option has two elements:
      • A Provision - These are the generic meal categories you set up during Step 2 Meals setup process. For example, Hot meal option 1. If your provisions have prices set, make sure your provisions match the labels that match that pricing.
      • A Label - This is the name of the meal option you see on the Portal and in Meal registers. This allows you to set one provision and price, but to match this to different meal options depending on the day of the week. For example, Hot Meal Option 1 can be labelled as Pizza on Monday and Pasta on Friday.
    • For each day, select what food choice or provision that option is, and a parent-friendly name that will appear in the Parent Portal and Parent App. In the example below, you can see the vegetarian option is Pizza on Tuesdays and Burger on Wednesdays.
      • Use the drop-downs in the Provision column to select different provisions
      • Free-type the name of the label in the Label column
      • Because the menu is in a table, you can copy and paste data into columns, rows and cells using keyboard shortcuts or by right-clicking a cell.
    • When adding labels and provisions, be mindful of these rules:
      • You must add a label if you've added a provision, and vice versa
      • You are not able to add the same Provision more than once for a particular day
    • Once complete, click Save Changes and make sure you've completed the menu for each week.
