This guide explains the steps your school need to take to ensure you are timetable-ready before your migration from SIMS to Arbor.
Why is this important?
When your school completes its final migration, we can only migrate the timetable that has been in place during the week leading up to your booked migration date, as only the current timetable, classes and student memberships can be migrated from SIMS to Arbor. If a timetable is imported into SIMS with an effective date in the future, it will not be migrated as SIMS do not make future timetables available in their API.
Actions for schools prior to migration
Schools using Nova-T6 or another 3rd party timetabling software should complete their procurement and training of a compatible timetabling software prior to their migration to Arbor. This is particularly important for schools migrating during an ongoing academic year, as any timetable changes needed after your migration can only be made in compatible software, or through manual changes in Arbor.
Manual Timetable Changes
We only recommend schools make manual timetable changes in Arbor for small alterations to their timetable. Guidance on when its suitable to manually edit your timetable in Arbor or when you'll need to import a new one from Edval or TimeTabler can be found here.
Compatible Software
Arbor is compatible with two major suppliers of timetabling software, these are:
If your school has not yet chosen a compatible timetabling software, speak to your Arbor Onboarding Manager or contact the suppliers directly for a demonstration, advice and guidance.
