Opting In and Out of Arbor AI

While Arbor AI is designed to save every staff member in your school time, we understand that your school's leadership may want to pause or review the use of AI tools. The Global Feature Controls act as a master switch, allowing you to completely turn off all Arbor AI features for all staff across your MIS.

Permissions

  • You need the School: Arbor AI: Administer Arbor AI to opt your school in or out of Arbor AI or one of its features.

If you do not have this permission, please speak to your school admin team about adding this permission using these instructions.

How to opt out of Arbor AI completely

  1. Navigate to School > Arbor AI.

  2. Select Settings and then Global Permissions from the left-hand menu.

  3. Locate the General section.

  4. Click "Opt-out of Arbor AI"

  5. Tick the box on the slide-over

  6. Click the green Opt-Out of Arbor AI button

  7. Click Yes, Opt-Out to confirm

What happens when we opt out?

Opting out immediately removes the Ask Arbor icon and all other AI tools (like Suggest Comms or Suggest Student Summary) from the interface for all staff members. You can return to this page to opt back in at any time.

Opting back in

To opt back into Arbor AI, select the Opt-Out of Arbor AI row on the same page you opted out.

The slide over will open. Select the ‘I would like to opt-in to Arbor AI features’ checkbox and then click ‘Opt-In to Arbor AI’.

You will know that you have opted back into Arbor AI because you will see the ‘Feature Controls’ section and the ‘Users’ tab of the Arbor AI dashboards.

Enabling and Disabling a Specific Feature

To enable or disable a specific feature, like Suggest Comms, click on the name of the feature under the Global Feature Controls section.

A slide over will appear, select the Status of that feature, then click the "Save Changes" button.
