Report on summative assessment baselines, grades, comments and targets in the Custom Report Writer

To create a report of assessment grades and baselines, just create a report as shown in this article. You can report on:

  • Summative baselines
  • Summative marks (predicted and current)
  • Summative mark comments
  • Summative targets (year and final, but not period)
  • Ad Hoc marks

Adding one assessment

During step 3, you can add a column for Summative Baseline, Summative Mark, Summative Mark Comment or different targets. Type this into the search then drag the column over to the list on the right-hand side.

You can also report on Ad Hoc marks, but note that as Ad Hocs do not have baselines, you can't report on these.

In the slide-over, select the year, the assessment, the grade set to display the marks in, the grade format (choose from Short name, long name or the underlying value) and any summary row or conditional formatting.

When adding columns for Summative Mark or Summative Predicted Mark, you'll also be able to select the assessment period, and you'll see an extra box for Marked only - this tick box tells your report which mark to pull through for the assessment.

  • If ticked, Arbor will try to find the latest instance of an actual mark within the date range specified.
  • If it is unticked, Arbor will display the latest mark, which could be blank.

For example, the date range is set for Spring term, but marks have only been entered for the Autumn Term. If the box is ticked, the column will pull through marks from Autumn Term, if it is not ticked, then Arbor would pull through the latest marks - the blank unmarked spring marks.

Adding for multiple assessments or columns

During step 3, scroll down and click the Bulk Add Assessment Columns button.

Select the year, assessments and periods, and the grade format (choose from Short name, long name or the underlying value). For Summative assessments (not ad hoc) you'll also need to choose which marks or targets to show.

It'll then add a column for each variable.

Once you have added all the columns, click to skip the setup wizard at the bottom of the page. You'll then be able to save and view your report to see student's grades and baselines.

Report on a different Assessment Period

If you need to change the dates of your report, you can click into each column to change the reference.

You can also use the Bulk Edit Assessment Periods button - just select whether to edit your Ad Hoc or Summative assessment periods.

The slide over will tell you which columns you're about to change the assessment period being reported on, and enables you to select the new assessment period.

Top Tip: If your assessments have different assessment frequencies (e.g. termly and half-termly) you'll see a drop-down for each set.
