This article explains how to promote nursery students during the New School Year Setup process, emphasising that all nursery students should initially be promoted to reception, and any adjustments can be made for those Students remaining in nursery. It details the steps to correct year group placements after promotion.
When completing step 3 of the New School Year Setup process, you need to promote students into the year groups and registration forms they'll be in next year. For nursery students, some of your nursery students won't be moving into reception, so what do you do?
What we recommend
We advise promoting students who are staying in a Nursery Year Group next year as if they were all moving up into reception. You can then move these students who are staying in nursery back into the nursery class.
Why we recommend this
This saves time and allows you to make changes in bulk as part of the next step, rather than handling these enrolments manually on a per-student basis.
Putting students in the correct year group after promoting them
Once you've promoted all the students, select step 5 to Review and tweak Year Group enrolments or step 7 to Review and tweak Registration Form enrolments.
Look for the students who need to move into a different year group, for example, if a student is showing in Reception for the next Academic Year, but they will be staying in N2.
Click the year group next to their name, and change this back to the nursery year using the drop-down.
