To add a UPN to a student who currently doesn't have one, follow this article on Adding a UPN to a student.
Typically Temporary UPNs are formatted differently and usually flags as such in Arbor.
Temporary UPNs are identical to permanent UPNs, except that characters 11-13 are a two-digit serial number plus a letter, rather than just a three-digit serial number like in a permanent UPN. It would look like X00180001701A, for example.
Please note: If you replace a temporary UPN that was created by your school with a permanent UPN, the temporary UPN will not be included in CTF's. A temporary UPN that was provided by another school when the student joined you will still be included in the CTF when you assign a permanent UPN.
Permissions
You will need either:
- Student Profile: Identity: Administer All Students and Student Profile: Identity: View All Students permissions
- Student Profile: Identity: Administer My Students and Student Profile: Identity: View My Students
If you don't have a permission, ask your admin team to assign it to you.
Swap the temporary UPN with the permanent one
If the UPN was Temporary in Arbor, it will say Temporary UPN under the Identity section of the Student Profile.
To change this to a permanent UPN, click on the Temporary UPN, then click the orange Edit button.
Untick the Temporary box. Then Enter the UPN in the Existing UPN field, or leave this blank for a random UPN to be assigned.
Finally, click the green Assign UPN button.
