Report Cards FAQ

This article covers common questions regarding Report Cards in Arbor. If you cannot find an answer to your query in this article, check the dedicated section of the Help Centre on this topic here.

Can we remove a summative assessment subject from a student's report card?

If a student stopped studying a subject part-way into the assessment period, you can only remove their assessment period by changing the start date in the Attainment tab of the Report Card settings to begin the day after the student's last day in the course.

How do I stop a Primary Guardian from receiving their child's report card?

Report Card emails are sent to all Primary Guardians linked to a student. Legal Guardians who are not Primary Guardians do not receive these emails. Primary Guardians who have unsubscribed will still receive the email. To exclude a guardian from receiving a report card, they can be removed as a Primary Guardian or specific recipients can be selected when sending report cards.

When sharing Report Cards via email, the email and report card will be sent to all Primary Guardians linked to the student.

If you don't want to send a report card to a certain guardian, you can remove them as a Primary Guardian (if this isn't a status they should have) or use the tick boxes next to the student names in the Report Cards to select specific people to send the report cards to.

Can we remove a student from the list of report cards?

Student report cards cannot be removed for individual students once created, as they are generated for all enrolled students in a group. To exclude a student, you can either add students individually in the Report Cards tab or create a custom group. Removing a student will delete their report card from the student profile, but it may still be accessible through the Parent or Student Portal.

Student report cards are created for all students who have been enrolled in that student group at some point during the academic year, so there isn't a way to remove a report card for a single student.

When you add a student group (e.g. Year 11), it will add all of Year 11. If you want to exclude one student (for example if they have left), you would need to either:

  • Add all the students in the Report Cards tab within the report card individually
  • Create a custom group of the students for who you want to create report cards. You can see how to do this here: How to create and use Custom Groups

This will delete the report card for students who were previously on the student list, including from the student profile. However, the report card may have been accessed from the Parent Portal or Student Portal before removal.

Why is my report card displaying two course names?

The report card displays two course names when a course and a differently named progress assessment are linked. To show only one name, ensure the progress assessment has a custom name matching the course name in the General Attainment Settings.

On the General Attainment Settings page, if you have a Course added, and also a Progress Assessment added that is linked to the course, but differently named, these will be formatted on the report card as Course Name: Progress Assessment Name.

If you'd like to display only a single name in the row, you can do so by ensuring the Progress Assessments are set up with a Custom Name that is the same as the Course name under General Attainment Settings.

Once these names are set up, you'll see only one name is shown on the Report Card.

Can we duplicate or copy a report card?

No, it is not possible to copy or duplicate External Report Cards or Custom Report Cards.

You can copy Arbor Report Cards (long and short), but please note that you can only do this within the academic year. You can see more information, and how to do this here: Copying report cards

Can we add missing new students to Report Cards?

To add new students to report cards, delete the existing report cards for the student group and then re-add the group. This process generates a report card for the new student without affecting existing data for other students.

If a new student has joined since the report cards were created, they won't have been automatically added to the list.

To refresh the report cards to generate a report card for them:

  1. Click on the student group
  2. Click the Delete Report Cards button.
  3. Click +Add to add the student group back in. This will create a report card for the new student.

Don't worry - this won't remove any information that teachers have already added to other children's report cards.
