Error 2300 most often occurs when a pupil has a suspension logged that has been logged as having 0 sessions (school defined). To resolve this, check the student's suspensions, review sessions, and amend where the student's suspension sessions have been logged as 0.
"Error 2300: Where category is suspension, the number of sessions must also be provided"
Why does the error appear?
This error appears if the number of sessions a student missed due to a suspension is marked as 0. For the purposes of the census, each suspension is also expected to lead to at least one lost session.
When you log a Suspension, Arbor automatically calculates the number of sessions that were lost due to the suspension; however, this can be manually overridden if you enter a number in the Sessions lost - school defined box. When you do this, the manually set number takes precedence over the automatic calculation.
If you accidentally entered 0 in that box, instead of leaving it empty, the error appears.
How to fix the error
To fix the error, follow the steps below:
- Go to the student's profile and, from the left-hand menu, click Behaviour
- Go to the Exclusions tab
- Click on the date filters (the green writing) and change the date range to show the relevant dates - each census will look at specific terms
- Click on the suspension(s) - the problematic suspension will say Sessions lost - school defined (?) 0 when you click on it
- Click on the orange Edit button
- Click Save and Add Sessions
In the slide-over, under School Defined Sessions Lost, clear the 0 from the box and leave it blank
- Click Save
- Regenerate your census and check if the error has disappeared
