5028Q

5028Q - Please check: There are no pupils on roll identified as a young carer

This is a validation query in the Spring school census, which means it does not nessicerally needs to be resolved if your data is accurate.

What triggers this query?

The query is triggered when a school has no pupils on roll identified as a young carer. Specifically, it occurs if there is not at least one student included in the census who is marked as a Young Carer.

What should we do if this query occurs?

Because this is a query and not a hard error, it can be resolved with an explanation if the data is accurate. If you have confirmed your school definitely has no identified young carers, you should therefore ignore the query in Arbor and submit a note to COLLECT instead.

Background on the Young Carer Indicator

A young carer is defined under the Children Act 1989 as a person under 18 who provides or intends to provide care for another person. Schools are expected to use the following codes for this indicator:

N: Not declared (the default value, if all students have this value 5028Q is triggered.)
P: Identified as a young carer by a parent or guardian.
S: Identified as a young carer by the school, including instances where the pupil self-declares.

How to record a Young Carer Indicator

You can do this by going to a student's profile and navigating to the Background section. You can read a detailed discussion of this here: Logging and reporting on student Young Carers
