Week-on-week weekly attendance percentage report

This article explains how to create a week-on-week attendance percentage report for students using the Custom Report Writer. It details the steps to add attendance data for each week of the academic year and how to customise the report by grouping data. If you instead want to run an attendance report of just the past week, you can use our Weekly Attendance Report by Year Template.

Option 1: Using the template library

The quickest way to create a week-by-week statutory attendance report is with a template from the library, as this saves you from adding each week as an individual column.

To add the report:

  1. Go to Reporting > Template Library
  2. Click on Students
  3. Find and click on Week by Week Attendance (tip: type "week" into the search to narrow down the list)
  4. On the slide over, click Create Report From Template
  5. Your week-by week attendace report will now open

By default, the report contains all students enrolled during the current academic year. If you need to make any changes, click Edit to do things like:

  • Change the report's name to make it easier to find (edit the Report Title)
  • Change the date range (set this to a specific date to only include students enrolled on that date)
  • Add or remove columns
  • Add filters to exclude certain students and groups
  • Add groupings to view data for a year group, form or demographic as a whole 

Option 2: Building a report from scratch

If you prefer to have more control over your report (for example, if you measure weeks from a different start day or want to include only specific weeks), this section shows you how to create such a report from scratch.

Please note that if you use this method each week, you will need to add a new column, as we cannot do this automatically or in bulk.

When you get to the Columns step, add the Statutory/Roll Call Attendance (Present) field to the right-hand column.

In the slide over, select a Custom date range and set it to the first week of term.

Repeat this for each week of the academic year so far. Once you've added them all, you can click Skip setup wizard.

Add in any groupings you need, for example, if you want to view the attendance broken down into year groups rather than for individual students.

Then click to view your report - you can then share it or download it.
