This article explains how to add and remove staff from detention sessions in a school management system. It outlines three options for adding staff: during the setup of detention types, for specific days, and for individual sessions. It also details the process for removing staff from repeating timetable slots.
You may wish to add regular staff to detentions, so they can see the session in their calendar and know to take attendance for it.
Adding staff
Option 1 - When setting up the detention type
When setting up a detention type, you can select staff to be allocated to all the instances of the detention. All the scheduled sessions will appear in their calendar.

1. Go to Students > Behaviour > Setup
2. Click on the detentions tab
3. Select the detention.
4. Select the timetabled slot from the Timetable slots section
5. In the slide-over, click +Add in the Staff section.
6. Select the staff member and the dates they should be added between
7. Click Add Staff.
The detention will only appear in their calendar for the sessions they've been added to.
Option 3 - Adding staff to an individual session
1. Click the session in the Timetable section.
You can also select a session from Students > Behaviour > Detentions.
2. In the slide over
3. Click Add staff.
You can also add staff to a particular detention session.
4. Select the staff to add, and the current session will appear in their calendar.
Top Tip: Only current staff as of the date selected can be added.
Removing staff
It isn't possible to remove a staff member from an individual detention session they've been added to following option 3 above.
However, you can remove staff from the repeating timetable slots. Go to Students > Behaviour > Setup, click into the detentions tab and select the detention. Select the timetabled slot from the Timetable slots section. In the slide over, click the staff member.
You can either edit the dates they are assigned to detentions, or delete them.
