You can now use Venn Diagrams in Arbor to compare groups of students and quickly spot overlaps or differences between them. This is a powerful way to analyse groups for assessments, SEND, attendance, and more.

What is Venn Diagram Analysis?
A Venn Diagram uses overlapping circles to show how different sets relate to each other. Each circle represents a group of students, and the overlaps show students who appear in more than one group. It’s a simple, visual way to explore patterns or intersections between groups.
For example, you could compare:
- Students in Year 6
- Students with SEND needs
- Students achieving above age-related expectations
The diagram would show you how many students meet one, two or all three of these criteria.
You can also drill down into each section to view the exact list of students.
Where to find it?
Go to Students > All Students > Venn Diagram Analysis.
From here, you can select up to three groups from your Arbor system. Once selected, the diagram will update automatically to show how the groups overlap.
Printing your analysis
Once you’ve chosen your groups, click Print in the top-right corner to generate a printable version. This includes:
- The Venn Diagram
- A table listing each group and which students appear in each section
You can take this to meetings or share with colleagues to support discussions on progress, interventions or group planning.
