Continuous service start date and length of service

This article explains how to record a staff member's continuous service start date in the School MIS and MAT MIS, including the necessary permissions and steps to add or amend the date. It also provides tips for checking missing data and calculating length of service using reports and external tools.

You can record a staff member's continuous service start date.

This information is not submitted to the DfE through the census, so you do not have to complete this field.

Permissions

  • You’ll need the All staff: Contract management permission on the School MIS
  • You'll need the Contract management: All Group Staff permission on the MAT MIS.

Continuous service

Go to the Contracts section of their staff profile.

Need to check who’s missing this data? Create a Custom Report Writer Staff report and add the Continuous service start date column. You can see how to create a report here: Creating a report

You can choose which format to output the dates in.

Top Tip: Click the column headers to view all staff without a date - you can then go to their profile to add this.

Length of service

In Arbor, there isn't a field that will automatically tell you the length of service.

However, you could export the report detailed above to calculate this in Excel, or use a Date Duration Calculator.
