This article provides instructions for accessing My Classroom based on user roles, including teachers and administrators. It outlines various methods to navigate to My Classroom and addresses potential issues with accessing the My Classroom button if a room is not allocated. Additionally, it mentions the next steps for setting up a classroom layout and seating plan.
The best way of getting to My Classroom will depend on your permissions - whether you are linked to a class as a teacher or you're an administrator.
Top Tip: My Classroom will always open in a new tab in your browser, so you won’t lose track of anything else you’re doing!
How to get to My Classroom
Teachers, teaching assistants and cover staff
You can access My Classroom from the same page you access your normal attendance registers! First, select the lesson from your calendar on your Homepage.
You can also select it from within your calendar in My Items > My Calendar. Click on the class which you'd like to take the register for, which will lead you to the lesson overview.
From the lesson overview, click the My Classroom button next to the Take Register button.
Admins, SLT, Attendance Officers etc
Go to Students > Attendance and click the class, then click on the grey Lesson Overview button. You can also select incomplete registers from the Incomplete Registers page instead.
Alternatively, you can also:
Go to Schools > Programmes > Courses. Click on a course, then select Timetable from the left-hand menu. Click the lesson to access My Classroom for, then click More information.
Go to the staff profile of the teacher who will be teaching the lesson, and access their Calendar. Click the lesson you’d like to access My Classroom for.
From the lesson overview, click the My Classroom button next to the Take Register button.
I can’t click the My Classroom button
If you can’t click the My classroom button, this will mean the lesson hasn’t been allocated a room. You’ll need to ask the admin team at your school to assign your class a room to allow you to use My Classroom for this class. They'll need to follow these instructions: Check all classes have been given a room
What's next?
Once you open My Classroom for the first time, you need to create a layout for your classroom (where the seats are), and a seating plan (where the students sit). You can see how to do this here: Managing layouts and seating plans in My Classroom
