The Student Picker in My Classroom allows teachers to randomly select a student during lessons using a projector. It requires specific permissions and can display either student photos or names. The tool is accessible only in the Student View.
In the Student View in My Classroom, you can use the Student Picker on your projector to randomly pick a student from your class.
Permissions
You will need the Classroom Management: View All/My My Classroom Screens permission to use the Student Picker. If you don't have permission, you'll need to ask your admin team to give you permission using these instructions.
1. In the Student View, click the Student Picker button.
2. Select whether to use student photos or just show names
3. Then click Next.
Top Tip: You can toggle this by clicking the three dots in the top right. This will save your settings for the next time you return to your classes classroom.
You'll see a pop up with our Student Picker.
4. Click Pick a student and the picker will spin.
The students available in the picker are all present and late students enrolled into the current lesson, even if they're not assigned a seat on the seating plan.
It'll then show the name of the selected student, and their picture if you've chosen to show this.
You can spin again by clicking Pick a student, or by closing and clicking the Student Picker button again.
I can't see the student picker?
You can only use the student picker in the Student View. In the main view, you won't have the button.
Click the Student View button in the top right. You'll then be able to see the Student Picker button.
