Exporting results to Primary Assessment Gateway or the LA
If you want to be able to create CTFs to export this data to Primary Assessment Gateway or an LA, please note that you should not follow the process outlined below.
Please follow the guidance outlined in this article: Completing the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP)
If you need to transfer marks across, you'll need to enter them or copy and paste them from one assessment to the other - you can manage this by clicking between tabs.
You can set up and begin using these the new EYFS assessments to track student progress through the year in line with the new framework. This includes both summative and curriculum assessments for the Development Matters and Early Years Foundation Stage assessments, so you'll be able to use whichever you need to suit the needs of your school.
For more guidance on how you can implement the changes to your curriculum and practice, take a look at these DfE guides.
How long will it take?
Each assessment type takes about 10 minutes to set up.
You can set up the new frameworks in a similar way to how you set up other assessments in Arbor! Just follow the instructions below for the assessment type you want to set up.
- It is possible to link your Early Learning Goals assessments in Arbor so the curriculum grades suggest a summative assessment mark. You'll just have needed to set up the summative assessment first, and select this assessment in step 4 when setting up your curriculum assessment.
- It isn't possible to link the Development Matters curriculum assessment to the Development Matters summative assessments. We have decided not to link the new development matters curriculum assessment to the formative assessments, as the larger number of statements in the 0-3 section would over mark the suggested marks.
Setting up the new summative assessments
First, you'll need to add the summative assessments to your Assessment Framework from Students > Assessment > Assessment > Assessment Framework > Assessment Catalogue. Click to Create new assessment.
Select the summative assessment type and change the drop-down menu to 'Early Years' to see the new templates.
Tick the boxes next to all the assessments you would like to set up, then click the Bulk action button to select Bulk add assessments. To prevent issues with adding the wrong grade set, only select all the FSP assessments.
In the slide over, select which grade set to use, then click Add. If you have selected FSP assessments, select EYFS Development Matters.
This is why it is important to have only selected ELG or FSP assessments to prevent the incorrect grade set from being applied. If you have set up an assessment with the incorrect grade set, you'll need to delete them.
You'll then need to add your assessments to your Assessment Policy from Students > Assessment > Anual Policy > Manage Assessments. Click to add assessments to your policy.
Top Tip: Type in 'FSP' to narrow down your search then use your Ctrl+A (Windows) or Cmd+A for (Mac) keys to select them all!
On the next page, select the groups of students you would like to include in the assessment, how often the assessment will be taken, and add any courses to be linked. Then click Add assessment(s).
You'll then be able to:
- see your assessments in your Assessment catalogue and Policy
- input marks for all the FSP assessments from School > Programmes > Courses > Reception > Assessment > Full Marksheet.
