This article provides instructions on how to delete assessments from both the Annual Policy and the Assessment Framework in Arbor. It outlines the steps for removing assessments, the implications of deletion, and the importance of exporting marks before proceeding. It also addresses common questions regarding bulk deletion, recovery of deleted marks, and handling assessments that are not fully set up.
You may wish to delete an assessment. There are a few reasons for wanting to do so:
- It was set up incorrectly (wrong grade sets etc) - remove it from both the Annual Policy and the Assessment Framework
- You wish to change the assessment periods - just remove it from the Annual Policy, but not from the Assessment Framework
Removing an assessment from the Annual Policy
If you won't be running an assessment this year, you can remove the assessment from your Annual Policy. This method works for All Assessments - Curriculum, Summative, Progress 8 and Ad-Hoc assessments.
Please note that this will delete all baselines, targets and grade marks added to the assessment this academic year.
Linked assessments
When setting up an Arbor-defined or custom curriculum assessment, you may have chosen to link it to a Summative Assessment. This enables you to mark the Summative Assessment based on suggested marks.
If you remove the curriculum assessment from your annual policy, this will also remove all baselines, targets and marks from the summative assessment, so there will be blank marksheets.
- To prevent this from happening, you must first Unlink the assessments before removing the curriculum assessment from your Annual Policy. To unlink, go to Students > Assessments > Assessment Framework > Assessment Catalogue and select the assessment. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Summative linked assessment to remove the link.
- We also recommend exporting marks first if you are planning to delete any assessments.
You can then remove the curriculum assessment following the instructions below.
Top Tip: Removing the summative assessment would not remove the curriculum assessment.
Ad Hoc assessments
If you have set up the ad hoc assessment as One mark per course, this will have created one ad hoc linked to each subject.
When deleting these ad hocs, please note that removing the ad hoc from your Annual Policy for one subject will remove all instances across all marksheets for all subjects. This means all the marks will be deleted and the ad hoc will no longer show on marksheets.
If you add the ad hoc to your Annual Policy again, the marks will not return and will need to be filled in. We recommend exporting marks first if you are planning to delete any assessments.
You can remove ad hoc assessments following the instructions below.
Remove from the Annual Policy
To remove an assessment from your policy, go to Students > Assessments > Annual Policy > Manage Assessments. Select the assessment to delete and you will be taken to the Assessment Overview.
Click the red Remove From Policy button. Please note, it can take some time to process the deletion.
The assessment will then be removed from your Annual Policy - you can see this on the Manage Assessments page.
Please note that while this is happening, you won't be able to re-add the assessment to your policy as it won't show as an option. Please wait until it has been removed to try adding it again.
Remove from the Assessment Framework
To completely delete an assessment, you must remove it from your Annual policy (shown above) and then also remove it from your Assessment Framework. This method works for All Assessments - Curriculum, Summative, Progress 8 and Ad-Hoc assessments.
Please note that this will delete all baselines, targets and grade marks added to the assessment this academic year, and all marks added to the assessment in previous academic years, so you can no longer use the marks for comparative analysis.
To remove an assessment from your framework, go to Students > Assessments > Assessment Framework > Assessment Catalogue. Select the assessment to delete and you will be taken to the Assessment Overview. Click the red Delete Assessment button.
Please note, it can take some time to process the deletion.

Comments
Hi - I need to ask for guidance on how to delete an assessment or assessments in bulk (from the assessment catalogue) in the Group MIS once it has been imported from the seed school.
Please Advise
Hi Jayesh, this isn't possible at the moment. There's no requirement to delete the assessments from your assessment catalogue on the group MIS - it's just a catalogue you can select assessments from to roll out or analyse if needed, so it won't impact anything if you aren't using a particular assessment any more.
Hi - Is it possible to delete a set of results that have been entered against an assessment, without removing the assessment from the annual policy?
Hi Karen, you would need to change each of the grades to 'No Grade' one by one - I'm afraid there isn't a way to remove marks entered in bulk.
