2989Q: "There are no pupils on roll identified as being in kinship care"
This is a validation query in the School Census, which means it does not necessarily need to be resolved if your data is accurate.
Why does this query appear?
Query 2989Q appears on the Autumn School Census when Arbor finds no pupils on roll identified as being in kinship care on the day of the Autumn census.
Kinship Care is when a child lives with a relative, friend or other connected person, rather than a parent, who provides most or all of their care. By default, Kinship Care statuses are set to Not declared. If all students included in the census are marked as Not declared, you see Query 2989Q.
If you have students in kinship care
Record their Kinship Care Status (ensuring it covers the autumn census), then regenerate the census to remove 2989Q.
- Open the student's profile and go to the Background section on the main profile page.
- Click Kinship Care - Not declared
- On the slide-over, add a start date on or before the Autumn Census date and an optional end date
- Use the Kinship Care* dropdown to set the status type (more on these here)
- Click Save
- Regenerate your census on the right-hand side of your census (School > Data > Export > Data Returns). Find more on census regeneration after resolving errors and queries here: Why do we still have a census error or query?
Permissions needed
- School: Data Returns: Administer: Let you access and regenerate censuses
- Student Profile: Background: Administer All/My Students - Lets you add/edit Kinship Care statuses.
If you don’t have these permissions, ask your admin team to grant them using these instructions.
What to do if we have no students in kinship care?
If no pupils on roll are in kinship care, no action is needed. Instead, ignore the query and add a validation note to explain when you submit your census to COLLECT.
How can I see which Kinship Care Status students have?
- For individual students, refer to Kinship Care the Background section on the main page of their profile
- Filter pages like Attendance Statistics by the Kinship Care Demographic
- You can report on and filter by Kinship Care in the Custom Report Writer in reports focused on Students.
