The Student Numbers Matrix shows you how many students fall into the groups you choose, with one set of groups as rows and another as columns, for the date range you pick. For example, if you want to see how many students in your year groups are FSM, LAC and Pupil Premium at a glance, the Student Numbers Matrix is the ideal tool.
Permissions
- Student Profile: Attendance: View All Students - Lets you view the Student Numbers Matrix
If you don’t have these permissions, ask your admin team to grant them using these instructions.
Finding the Student Numbers Matrix
You can find the Matrix by heading to Students > Enrolment > Student Numbers > Matrix.
Using the filter to build your report
- The Date Range. Set this to a relative date (like Today or This Week) so these dates automatically update when you view the report (in Arbor of through a Live Feed). If you want this to be a set date range, for example, so it shows the same dates each time you view the report, use the Custom date range and manually set your Start and End dates
-
In the Students who are... boxes, choose the students you want to include.
- If you add two student groups within the same dropdown, the two groups are combined (e.g. if you select Year 7 and Pupil Premium students in the same dropdown, this is all students who are either in Year 7 OR have a Pupil Premium status)
- You can use the and who are also option to add an additional condition, which means the students included need to match these groups AND the groups in the top dropdown (e.g. put Year 7 in the top dropdown and Pupil Premium in the second dropdown; the report only shows students in Year 7 who are also Pupil Premium)
- Choose whether to include Only Current Students (untick to include students who have left)
-
Choose the groups to show as Rows. You can:
- Pick a generic label, such as Year Groups, to see all your year groups
- Or pick specific groups, such as Year 7 and Year 8
- Choose the groups to show as Columns, to break each row down. The same options apply as for Rows.
- Choose how to show the data. You can select more than one option:
- Count: the number of students who fall into the category of the column and the row they are in.
- % of group: the percentage of students in the column out of the total number in the group (row).
- % of total: the percentage of students compared with the total number of students you have filtered the report down to in the Students who are section.
- Count (% of group) and Count (% of total): puts both figures (count and %) into one cell.
