This article explains how timetable slots can appear squashed or overlapping in calendars due to their duration and timing. Slots lasting 30 minutes or less may appear vertically squashed while overlapping times can cause horizontal squashing. Adjusting the start or end times can help prevent overlaps. If slots are 20 minutes or less, they may also appear squashed even if they don't overlap. Feedback on calendar functionality is encouraged.
You may find that timetable slots show as squashed or overlapping in staff or student calendars.
Vertical height
Slots will be squashed vertically if they last 30 minutes or less.
Horizontal width
Timetable slots can squash horizontally to only take up 50% of the column width. This happens when your times overlap, as in this example.
- 8:20-8:40 and 8:45-9:45 do not overlap
- 8:20-8:40 and 8:40-9:45 do not overlap
- 8:20-8:41 and 8:40-9:45 do overlap
As people can't be in two locations at once, you can prevent this by changing the end time of the first slot, or start time of the second slot. You can see how to do this here: Changing the Start and End Times of timetable slots
You may find that timetable slots are squashed horizontally in calendars where the times don't overlap. You will be able to see by the times listed that they do happen one after the other.
This occurs where the slot is 20 minutes in duration or less.
If this happens, neither you or your Support Team will not be able to resolve this. If you have feedback on how calendars work, please let us know here: New Calendar Component
