The Assignments Reporting page provides a comprehensive table view of all student assignments. This report allows you to view data using a fast interface, filter by specific criteria, and group information to analyse trends effectively.
Permissions
To access this report, you will need one of the following permissions:
- Assignments: Administer/View All Students: To see all assignments across the school.
- Assignments: Administer/View My Students: To see assignments for your own courses where your Academic Lead status overlaps with the filer dates.
If you do not have permission, you will need to ask your administration team to assign it to you.
Navigating to the page
- Go to Students > Assignments > Reporting.
- When the page loads, you will see a detailed list of assignments in a table.
The table displays the following columns by default:
- UPN
- Student Name
- Year Group
- Registration Form
- Assignment Title
- Course
- Due Datetime
- Status
- Created By
Filtering Data
You can narrow down the results using the filter above the table.
- Click the Filter above the table
- Set the Academic Year you want to report on (this defaults to the current year)
- Select a Due between and And dates. Note that these must be within the academic year set in the Academic Year dropdown.
- Select specific criteria such as Subject, Course, Status, Student, Assignment and the staff member the assignment was Created by.
- Click Apply to view your results.
Example filter settings
If you want to see all geography assignments due for a specific student during the Autumn Term, you might:
- Set your filter to Due between and And dates to Sep 1st and Dec 31st, respectively
- Select the specific Student in the dropdown
- And set the Subject dropdown to Geography
Saved Filters
Once you have set up a report, you can save the filter settings so you can easily reload the same filter at a later point in time.
For example, if you know you might need to pull up the Geography assignments due in Autumn for the student in the example above at a later point, saving your filter will allow you to do this with ease.
Saving a filter
- Click on the Filter above the table
- Adjust the filter as needed
- Click the green Save as new filter button
- Enter a Filter name
- Click Save and apply
Loading a Saved Filter
To load a Saved Filter:
- Click on the Filter above the table
- Select the Filter you want to load in the Saved filters dropdown
- The Saved Filter will automatically be applied
Editing a Saved Filter
Once a Saved Filter is loaded, you can make changes to the filter by clicking the orange Edit saved filter button.
By editing the filter, you can:
- Change the name of the Saved Filter
- Delete the Saved Filter
- Save any changes you have made to your filter after loading the Saved Filter
Grouping Data
You can switch from a standard list where each row equals a assigment assigned to a single student to a grouped summary to analyse metrics. You can add a maximum of two groupings at once.
Applying a Grouping
- Click the Filter above the table
- Click on the Group By option(s) at the bottom
- Choose to group by Course, Student, Staff (Assignment Creator), or Assignment.
- The report will provide a breakdown of the following metrics for each group:
- Grouping Name: The specific name of the Course, Student, Staff, or Assignment.
- Count of Assignments: The total number of assignments in that group.
- Number of Submitted: How many assignments have been handed in?
- Number of Not Submitted: How many assignments are currently outstanding?
- Number of Late: The count of assignments marked as late.

Number of Marked: How many assignments have been graded (where marking is enabled).
Example Grouping
If you want to have a top-level view of all of the assignments created for each course during the current year, including submission rates, you would use the following settings in the filter:
- Set Due between and And to the start and end of the year
- Set Group by to the Course
- Set And then by to Assignment
Downloading the Report
If you need to perform more complex data manipulation, you can download the report (including any filters you have applied) directly to Excel by clicking the Download button above the table.

To ensure the report handles large amounts of data quickly, these functions are disabled. Please use the filters to find the specific information you need or download the report
