Students are classified as disadvantaged if they have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any time in the last six years or are looked after by the local authority. To view a list of disadvantaged students, navigate to the Students > Demographics > Derived Indicators section and apply the Disadvantaged filter. The list includes student details and allows for further actions like downloading or viewing profiles.
Students are classed as disadvantaged if either or both:
- they were eligible for free school meals at any time during the last six years (Ever 6 FSM or FSM eligible).
- they are looked after (in the care of the local authority for a day or more or who have been adopted from care).
A list of disadvantaged students
Go to Students > Demographics > Derived Indicators. Select Background.
Click into the filters to select Disadvantaged.
You can also choose to show the inverse of the demographic - in this example it would show you everyone who is not disadvantaged.
You can see a list of students, including their name, year groups, registration form and the dates the start and stop being this demographic.
You can download the table, or click on a student to see more details, or jump to their profile.

Disadvantaged Ofsted
Disadvantaged Ofsted is a new derived indicator created by the DfE for students with the following criteria:
- Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)
- Pupils who meet the definition of children in need of help and protection
- Pupils receiving statutory local authority support from a social worker; and pupils who otherwise meet the criteria used for deciding the school's pupil premium funding (this includes pupils claiming free school meals at any point in the last six years)
- Looked after children (children in local authority care) and/or children who left care through adoption or another formal route
The Disadvantaged Ofsted indicator can be seen at the top of a student's profile, and you can also click the All Sections button and select Derived Background Indicators for more information.
