This article explains how to add a new academic year to your Arbor site, including the necessary permissions and steps to follow. It also addresses potential issues with setting the academic calendar dates and provides guidance on handling previous academic years.
To enable you to add new applicants into an intake season, you first need to make sure the academic year exists on your site.
Permissions
You'll need the School: Academic Structure: Administer permission to be able to amend the academic years. If you don't have permission, you'll need to ask an administrator to give you permission following these instructions.
Do this by going to School > School Structure > Academic Years.
Click on the green +Add button in the top right-hand corner to add the next year.
We recommend you have your academic calendar for each year start on 1st September and end on 31st August. If your students don't start back right away, you will be able to fill in these days as holiday or inset days.
Can't set up the academic calendar to start on the right date?
If you get an error message when trying to start your year on the 1st September, this means your academic calendar from last year finishes too late.
Contact the Arbor Support Team and provide code 1060 if supported by Arbor, or your Support Partner if not supported by Arbor so the end of this year's academic year can be changed to 31st August.
You'll then be able to add the new academic year to start on the right date.
Please note that this can cause room changes to revert.
