Setting up EDI exam qualifications

This article provides a step-by-step guide for setting up EDI exam qualifications by adding awards and units, requiring specific permissions, and linking orphan awards if necessary. It also outlines the next steps for preparing candidates for exam entries.

To set up your exams, you'll need to add the awards and units your school is offering.

This article covers EDI Exams, so please see our other guidance for other exam types here: Add exam awards and units for different qualification types

Permissions

You'll need the Qualifications: Administer All Students permission to set up exams. If you don't have permissions, ask your administration team to give you permission using these instructions

Step 1 - Add the award or unit

Go to Students > Examinations > Qualifications > Qualification Offering > EDI. Click the +Add new button to add a new Qualification.

In the slide over, start typing a code to search for the award or unit.

Can't find the right one? Follow these instructions: I can't add the right qualification or unit for exams

Step 2 - Subscribe to the learning units to add assessables

You can subscribe to the learning units on the next page by ticking the boxes.

Top Tip: Awards or units will be greyed out when there are students provisionally entered. To unsubscribe from this award or unit, withdraw all the students from it.

(Optional) Link orphan awards and units

If the award and units have not been created together, you can manually link them.

You can see details on why this may be needed, as well as instructions here: Link exam awards and units

What's next?

Once you have added the exams you'll be offering to your Qualification Offering, the next step is to make sure you have your candidates set up, ready to make entries: Setting up your exam candidates ready for entries
